Storytime at the Lightner
Sunday, May 3, 2026
10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Join a Lightner Educator for Storytime at the Lightner as we read A Rock Can Be… by Laura Purdie Salas, illustrated by Violeta Dabija. Following the book reading, participants will be able to paint and decorate their own rocks to take home. You don’t want to take this fun workshop for granite!
This program is for children ages 3-6 years old. Guardians must remain with their children for the duration of the program.
Storytime at the Lightner is a free workshop, but pre-registration is required. Participants should arrive at the Radzinski Family Garden at the rear of the Lightner Museum 5 minutes before the program begins. The museum educator will meet them there. The maximum number of spaces available is 12.
Guardians interested in exploring the Lightner after the program will receive discounted admission at $12. Children under the age of 11 receive free admission to the Lightner Museum galleries.
Storytime at the Lightner is a family program that focuses on literacy and creativity. It uses the Lightner Museum’s Education Center or Garden to read, explore, and have fun. Each Storytime at the Lightner includes a themed book read-aloud and a hands-on activity that pairs with an aspect of the book.
