Sit Sketch: Figure Drawing with Martha Ferguson
T​hursday, June 11 | 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Join us for a relaxed and inspiring ​evening of figure drawing at the​ Lightner Museum with local artist Martha Ferguson. This figure drawing workshop will focus on sculptures from the Lightner Museum’s collection as subjects. Whether you're an experienced artist or simply looking to slow down and observe, this is a great opportunity to connect with art through sketching in a welcoming, creative environment. 

The event will begin with a short demonstration and artist talk, where Martha will explore the fundamentals of figure drawing. Following the demo​nstration artists will participate in quick drawing exercises, rotating through the space and focusing on each of the sculptures for five minutes. Following the exercise, artists will be encouraged to focus on one sculpture for a longer period of time to work on developing figure drawing techniques through careful study of form, proportion, and movement.

$15 per person | $5 Lightner Museum Members

Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.

​Seating will be provided. Artists must bring their own supplies. Suggested materials include graphite pencils, colored pencils​, fine tip pens, a hard sketchpad or a travel easel. Please note that paint, pastels, or other wet media are not permitted in the galleries.

Light refreshments will be provided to enjoy while artists take a break. Only water in a closed container will be permitted into the galleries.
