What’s A Hobby? is a series of family workshops that use the Lightner Museum collection to explore hobbies and collecting. Founded in 1948 as the Lightner Museum of Hobbies, the museum has its origins in the hobby boom that swept America in the early twentieth century.
Join a Lightner Educator in discovering the hobby of musical instruments. Participants will explore our music room, learn about the wonder of mechanical musical instruments, and create a bell shaker to take home.
This workshop is for children ages 5 -10 years old. Parents must remain with their children for the duration of the workshop.
What’s a Hobby? are free workshops included with museum admission. Preregistration is required. Participants should arrive five minutes before the workshop starts, and meet the educator in the front lobby. The maximum number of children is 10.
