Join a Lightner Educator and special guest, Nicole Miller, for Storytime in the Garden as we read Nicole’s book Learn from Earth All About Surf! 
Saturday, June 21 | 10:00 a.m.

This children’s book aims to educate young readers about the science behind surfing. It explains how factors like wind, tides, and sea movement create ocean swells, allowing them to understand the natural forces that generate waves perfect for riding at the beach. Following the book reading, a hands-on experiment and a craft will center on the fun of planet Earth. 

This program is for children ages 3-6 years old. Guardians must remain with their children for the duration of the program.

This is a free workshop, but pre-registration is required. Participants should arrive at the Radzinski Family Garden, which is located at the rear of the Lightner Museum. 

About the Author: Nicole Miller was born and raised on the coast of Northeast Florida. She received her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Master of Science in Ecology, each from the University of Florida. Her passions lie in science and exploration of the natural world. In her free time, she tackles a few more projects than she can handle, travels, and surfs the scrambled waves of the North Atlantic.

Storytime in the Garden is a family program focusing on literacy and creativity. It uses the Lightner Museum’s garden and terrace to read, explore, and have fun. Each Storytime in the Garden includes a themed book read-aloud and a hands-on activity that pairs with an aspect of the book.
